Meet the Team of Abby Road Veterinary Hospital
We are dedicated to guiding our clients in maintaining their pets’ year-round health through proper nutrition and exercise. Abby Road Veterinary Hospital prioritizes staying current with veterinary advancements, always ensuring every check-up, procedure, or surgery is delivered with compassionate care.
Dr. Abby Gerenser, DVM
Owner & Veterinarian
Dr. Abby Gerenser is the owner of our practice and has been dedicated to veterinary medicine since 1998. After earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013, she founded the practice in 2017 with a commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality care for pets and the people who love them.
Her passion for veterinary medicine began with her first cat, an orange tabby named Fang, whose successful treatment for a broken leg inspired her to pursue a career helping animals. She began volunteering at a veterinary hospital at just 12 years old and later worked as a veterinary technician while completing her education. Those experiences confirmed she had found her calling.
Dr. Abby especially enjoys internal medicine, with a particular interest in urinary tract diseases, as well as ultrasonography and dentistry. One of her greatest joys is helping patients recover whenever possible and partnering with pet owners to successfully manage chronic conditions through education and personalized care.
Outside of work, she enjoys visiting Disney destinations, relaxing at the beach or in her backyard, birdwatching, gardening, and recently discovered a love for needle felting. She shares her home with two dogs, Minnie and Charlotte, and three cats, Eugene, Maximus, and Sebastian—all proudly sporting Disney-inspired names.
Dr. Justin Freeby, DVM
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Justin Freeby began gaining veterinary experience in 2010 and earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree in 2020. He joined our practice in 2022 and is passionate about promoting and advocating for the health and well-being of animals of all kinds.
Dr. Freeby especially enjoys building lasting relationships with clients, many of whom become like extended family over the years. His professional interests include emergency and critical care, preventive medicine, and exotic animal medicine.
He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Delaware Valley University in 2015 before completing his DVM at North Carolina State University in 2020.
Outside of work, Dr. Freeby enjoys spending time with his wife and children hiking, gardening, swimming, searching for birds and bugs, or enjoying movie marathons. During the winter, his family can often be found playing board games, working on puzzles, or reading together. At home, he cares for six dogs—Lyra, Mavis, Bindy, Trooper, Charlotte, and Bruno—one cat named Marvin, and several fish.
Dr. Ashley Tichy, DVM
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Ashley Tichy began her journey in veterinary medicine in 2011 as a kennel assistant and achieved her dream of becoming a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 2022. She joined our practice in 2025 and brings a passion for patient care that began when she started shadowing surgeries in high school and realized she could not imagine pursuing any other career.
Dr. Ashley particularly enjoys performing soft tissue surgeries and has special interests in surgery and exotic pet medicine. She is recognized as a Cat Friendly Veterinarian by the American Association of Feline Practitioners and is certified in both Basic and Advanced Animal First Aid and CPR through the RECOVER Initiative.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, reading, arts and crafts, and taking advantage of any opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and fresh air.
Brad, CVT
Practice Manager | Certified Veterinary Technician
Brad has worked in veterinary medicine since 2008 and has been with our team since 2017. His passion for animal care is driven by a lifelong love of animals and a desire to provide comfort and support to pets and their families during times of need.
His favorite part of veterinary medicine is seeing critically ill patients recover and reunite with their families, and he has a special interest in intensive care and internal medicine.
Outside of work, Brad is a huge fan of Disney and Dungeons & Dragons. Whether traveling to Disney Parks around the world, sailing with Disney Cruise Line, or creating fantasy worlds for tabletop adventures, he enjoys bringing imagination and adventure into his life. He shares his home with two dogs, Charlotte and Minnie, and three cats.
Heather, CVT
Lead Veterinary Technician
Heather has worked in veterinary medicine since 2016 and joined our team in 2020. A graduate of the NCC/LCCC Veterinary Technician Program in 2018, she is a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) whose passion for animal care stems from childhood dreams of becoming a veterinarian.
Heather’s favorite part of veterinary medicine is advocating for her patients and helping them receive the care they need. Her special interests include dentistry and physical therapy.
Outside of work, she enjoys crafting, football, and video games. She shares her home with her two beloved cats, Caesar and Annabelle Lee.
Michele, CVT
Certified Veterinary Technician
Michele has been working in veterinary medicine since joining our practice in 2013. Although she initially considered a career in human medicine, she discovered the LCCC/NCC Veterinary Technician Program and quickly realized caring for animals was where she was meant to be.
She has a special interest in dentistry and enjoys caring for the exotic patients that visit our hospital.
Outside of work, Michele loves baking—especially experimenting with sourdough recipes—as well as traveling and shopping. She shares her home with Duke, a shepherd mix, and Linguine, her crested gecko.
Doug, CSR
Client Service Representative
Doug has worked in the veterinary field since 2019 and joined our practice in 2024. Before transitioning into veterinary medicine, he spent five years working with dogs, further strengthening his passion for animal care.
Inspired by his desire to help both animals and the people who love them, Doug enjoys welcoming the many happy pets who come through our doors. He especially enjoys educating and assisting clients so they have the information they need to keep their pets healthy.
Outside of work, Doug enjoys playing guitar and bass, cooking, attending concerts, and creating art.
Liz, Nurse & Client Liaison
Nurse & Client Liaison
Liz has worked in veterinary medicine since 2005 and joined our practice in 2019. Her passion for the field is rooted in her lifelong love of animals and dedication to helping both pets and their families.
Her favorite part of her role is educating pet owners about nutrition, husbandry, vaccinations, preventive care, and other ways to improve their pets’ quality of life. She has a special interest in client education and venipuncture.
Outside of work, Liz enjoys camping, kayaking, fitness and nutrition, hiking, and shopping. She is the proud mother of two sons, Chase and Mason, and shares her life with three French Bulldogs—Eevee, the boss; Tater, the old soul; and Chiclet, the jokester.
Courtney, VT
Veterinary Technician
Courtney has worked in veterinary medicine since 2021, all of which has been with our practice. Inspired by her lifelong love of animals, she enjoys applying the knowledge and skills she has gained to help care for her patients. She has a special interest in dentistry.
Courtney is currently attending Penn Foster as she works toward her Veterinary Technician certification.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, swimming, and crafting. She shares her home with two dogs, Dixie and Shay, and a cat named Teddy.
Hannah, VT
Veterinary Technician
Hannah has worked in veterinary medicine since 2019, beginning as a nurse assistant before advancing into her current role in 2022. She joined our practice that same year.
A graduate of the NCC/LCCC Veterinary Technician Program, Hannah is currently working toward her Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) credential. Her passion for veterinary medicine comes from a lifelong desire to help animals and care for those who cannot speak for themselves.
She particularly enjoys collecting laboratory samples, including blood and urine, and has special interests in large animal medicine and client education.
Outside of work, Hannah enjoys reading, drawing, painting, swimming, and horseback riding. She shares her home with Bear, her playful dog, and Lucky, a cat with a strong personality.
Mason, VT
Veterinary Technician
Mason began his career in veterinary medicine in 2023 and joined our practice that same year. Inspired by his mother to pursue the profession, he is passionate about helping pets recover and enjoys seeing patients improve after treatment.
He has a special interest in running laboratory diagnostics and the important role they play in providing excellent patient care.
Outside of work, Mason enjoys playing guitar, writing songs, and drawing. He shares his home with three French Bulldogs.
Haley, VT
Veterinary Technician
Haley has worked in veterinary medicine since 2023, all of which has been with our practice. Inspired by a lifelong love of animals, she enjoys building lasting relationships with patients and their families while helping pets receive the care they need.
Her special interests include surgery and puppy and kitten wellness care. She is currently continuing her education through Penn Foster’s Veterinary Technician Program.
Outside of work, Haley enjoys diamond painting, gaming, and baking. She is also a foster dog mom for a senior rescue. Her home includes four dogs (one of whom is a foster), three cats, and a bearded dragon.
Kelsey, VT
Veterinary Technician
Kelsey began her veterinary medicine career in 2025 and joined our team that same year. She is a graduate of the NCC/LCCC Veterinary Technician Program.
Her passion for the profession comes from a lifelong love of animals and a deep appreciation for the opportunity to advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves. One of her favorite parts of the job is welcoming new puppies and kittens during their first visits and helping them get started on a lifetime of good health.
Kelsey also has a special interest in surgery and hopes to expand her knowledge through additional large animal training.
Outside of work, she enjoys reading, bike riding, and kayaking during the warmer months. She shares her home with her dog, Delilah, and two cats, Callie and Maya.
